Love of Reading
Our love of reading is celebrated across school in many different ways.
Take a look at just some of the things we do in school to encourage and promote our love of reading.
We want to immerse children with inspirational authors.
Our English Writing journeys allow children to study texts from a variety of authors, including Roald Dahl, C.S.Lewis, Carol Ann Duffy and Michael Morpurgo to name just a few.
Each year, we also aim to host a visiting author. For the last few years, we have welcomed Simon Hunt, author of Delilah the Bogey Princess and Billy the Bottom Burping Pirate. We have been lucky enough to also hold individual meet and greet sessions and book signings with Simon, the children and their parents/carers.
Each March, we look forward to celebrating World Book Day. A day where the whole school come together to share their love of books and reading. It is always one of our favourite days in the school calendar.

Scholastic / Travelling Book Fairs
Multiple times throughout the school year, we hold Scholastic Book Fairs.
Children from across school are able to browse books in within the school day and then they are invited, after school, along with parents/carers, to visit the fair to purchase books. This is always a well attended event, where we enjoy welcoming parents/carers into school to witness their child's enjoyment and enthusiasm for books and reading.
Book Fair
From each Book Fair, we earn rewards from each book sold. This reward is then used to purchase more books for our classrooms, and keep our book vending machine full of interesting and exciting titles.
